Earthbound is my favorite game, but I’ll talk more about that later. Mother 3 has been on my mind for a long time – pretty much since finding that building in Fourside with the sign reading “Planning Meeting for Earthbound 2.” There was the N64 sequel we thought we were getting (but it probably wouldn’t have made it to North America even if it had been released) that eventually manifested in Mother 3 for the GameBoy Advance. It has yet to receive an official English translation BUT there is a highly regarded fan translation. I avoided the unofficial route for a while. As much as I wanted to play it, I didn’t really want to play it on my computer. I wanted that real, console feel. I wanted to play it on my SP.
Well, I changed my mind. I’m playing this damn game and I’m playing it now. I’m going to write down my thoughts about it as I go, too. Maybe I’ll share bits and pieces as I go, maybe I’ll drop a big ol’ essay when I’m done. But it’s happening. I am excited.
